--Coach Rod Marinelli said Detroit News columnist Rob Parker crossed the line "big time" in Sunday's postgame news conference when he asked: "On a lighter note, seriously, do you wish your daughter had married a better defensive coordinator?" Marinelli's daughter, Chris, is married to Lions defensive coordinator Joe Barry. "I just think any time you attack my daughter, I've got a problem with that, in a room of stink," Marinelli said Monday. "And that's a man, and it was premeditated. I think there's something wrong with that, yeah."
Parker wrote a column in the News saying he had a respectful relationship with Marinelli and apologized if his attempt at humor came off the wrong way. "I didn't read it," Marinelli said. "I was just told a little bit about it. I don't accept anything."
--Marinelli was in no mood Monday to indulge the media with speculation about his future. A reporter asked him what he would say if Ford sat him down and asked him what he had done to earn the job next year. "Well, I'm not going to interview with you," Marinelli said. "How does that sound?"
